CARPE funds a diverse group of initiatives to build self-reliant local institutions, generate innovative partnerships, and support inclusive market-based approaches to conservation. Over its 25-year history, CARPE programs have built awareness of the global importance of the region’s ecosystems for biodiversity and climate change mitigation, supported pioneering remote sensing work leading to unprecedented transparency for forest monitoring and management, reduced poaching across the region’s major protected areas, and worked to strengthen rights of forest-dependent communities and Indigenous Peoples. As it implements its fourth phase, CARPE adopts a people-centered approach to biodiversity and habitat protection that builds on successes and lessons learned. Want to learn more?
